3 - and 4 - dimensional ultrasound imaging

چکیده
September 1999 23 medicamundi The first crude 3-D reconstructions of ultrasound data were performed nearly fifteen years ago. There was rapid development in reconstruction algorithms for surface and volume rendering, but clinical application of 3-D ultrasound was handicapped by problems intrinsic to ultrasound imaging, such as speckle, clutter, grating lobe and other artifacts. It has taken a new generation of ultrasound systems to produce data clean enough for meaningful rendering.

OBJECTIVE Three-dimensional (3-D) ultrasound is an intraoperative imaging modality used in neuronavigation as an alternative to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This article summarizes 4 years of clinical experience in the use of intraoperative 3-D ultrasound integrated into neuronavigation for guidance in brain tumor resection. METHODS Patients were selected for inclusion in the study on th...
متن کاملDesign, Evaluation and Prototyping of a New Robotic Mechanism for Ultrasound Imaging
This paper presents a new robotic mechanism for ultrasound imaging. The device is placed on a patient's body by an operator, and an ultrasound expert controls the motions of the device to obtain ultrasound images. The paper focuses on the robotic mechanism that performs ultrasound imaging. The design of the mechanism is based on two approaches to produce center of motion for an ultrasound probe...
متن کامل5 Badanie USG 3 D w pediatrii Editorial review : pediatric 3 D ultrasound
Three-dimensional ultrasound is an established diagnostic imaging technique in many specialties. However, in neonates, infants and children three-dimensional ultrasound still is underutilized, partially due to time constraints for post-processing and restricted availability, of devices as well as dedicated pediatric transducers. Also reimbursement issues still need to be addressed. This editori...
